Implementation research for enhanced VL case detection and improved case management by the National Kala-Azar Program in Bangladeh, India and Nepal (Phase IV) (2009-2010)
Activities Undetaken
Proposal development; co-ordination with Epidemiology and Disease Control Division (EDCD) Nepal and WHO/TDR, Switzerland, Vector Borne Disease Control and Research Center (VBDRTC), Hetauda; and District Public/Health Offices of Visceral leishmaniasis (VL) endemic districts; research implementation, train health workers from VL endemic districts on active case detection of VL; data collection, entry and analysis; prepare periodic progress and final report; and dissemination of the findings. The overall objective of this study was scale up ongoing Kala-azar Elimination Program (KAEP) in the region.
